METHOD 0.2-PILOT · RULES FIXED BEFORE SCORING · HASH 5c7b6c18f0fb

We check what can be checked.

Seven criteria. Anything we cannot verify is shown as not verified and left out of the score, never counted as good or bad. The Evidence percentage shows how much of the score we could verify.

Scoring

Seven criteria

Accountability · 15Team publicly identified (10: full, 5: partly, 0: anonymous). Legal entity or foundation identified (5).15
Code and audits · 20Independent audit published (10), audit within 24 months (5), source code public (5).20
Control risk · 10Can anyone change the rules, mint or freeze outside open consensus or governance? No privileged key or timelocked governance 10, multisig without timelock 6, single key 0.10
New supply · 10New supply entering circulation in the next 12 months, from issuance or published unlock schedules: up to 5% = 10, up to 15% = 6, up to 30% = 3, more = 0.10
Verifiable revenue · 10Can the fees or revenue be checked independently? On-chain 10, reported by the company only 5, none to check 0. This measures verifiability, not size.10
Security record · 15No incident found: 15. Otherwise the worst incident decides: no user funds lost 15, mostly recovered 9, unclear 6, lost and not made whole 3.15
Compliance record · 15Starts at 15. Criminal plea or conviction -15, fine or settlement of about 1M or more -7, smaller fine or restriction -4, regulator warning -3, private suit or closed without a merits finding 0.15

Tiers

Strong evidence: 90 or more. Mixed: 75 to 89. Weak: below 75. We use tiers and not a numbered ranking because small differences are inside the margin of our own method: when we vary the weights by 25%, several neighbours swap places.

Caps

A criminal plea or conviction in the last five years caps the score at 60. User funds lost and not made whole in the last five years caps it at 70.

Not applicable

A criterion is marked not applicable only when it cannot exist: for example, Bitcoin has no issuing company or foundation, so "legal entity" does not apply. The reason is written on the coin page. Not applicable items are removed from both the points earned and the points available, so they neither help nor hurt.

Context, not scored

Market value and fees

Market capitalization, rank, price and holder concentration are shown for context. Holder concentration is not scored: lists of top addresses mix exchanges, custody wallets and contracts, so the numbers are not comparable across assets. The "cap per $1 of fees" column divides market cap by 12 months of fees reported by DefiLlama. Fees of a base chain (gas), of a lending protocol and of an exchange protocol are different things. It is a question to ask, not an answer.

Editorial decisions

Where an editor stepped in

Researchers collect the facts. When a value was an inference and not stated by any source, or an event had no class on our scale, the editor decided. Every decision is listed here and on the coin page.

  • Avalanche / admin control: Researcher found no key able to mint, freeze or upgrade the chain but no source states this explicitly; treated as not verified.
  • Solana 2022-07-01: Private class action, no finding on the merits; shown, not deducted.
Independence and corrections

Nobody pays for a score

No sponsor, affiliate link or payment from any project or exchange exists today. If that ever changes, advertising will sit in clearly labelled spaces away from the scores, and this page will say so, with the date. The weights above were fixed before the scores were calculated. A rule change is applied to every asset and published here, with the method hash.

Each page lists its sources. If a fact is wrong, outdated or missing context, send a correction with a source: we verify it, fix it within a published window and note the change. A project can add a statement of reply to its own page.

Limits

Searches are not exhaustive. Some sources could not be read and are marked not verified. Market data changes continuously. Nothing here is investment advice.
